Nicola Indelicato
I was born and raised in Florence. During the 60’s my parents left Sicily moving to Florence, where was living one of my father’s aunt, who got married to a Greek man, and one of my uncle, husband of a Turkish woman. I grew up in a family where many tongues were spoken, where food habits, concerning sundays meals, anticipated what now it’s been called ‘Fusion’.
This fusion of mediterranean cultures, experienced in Florence, shaped my aesthetic taste and gave me the chance to develop my own creativity within a very rich and stimulating environment, challenging reinterpreted in my daily life, while walking among historical ‘living forms’ of the Italian Renaissance most famous city,
on my way to school.
My further education was completed at POLIMODA, where I ‘trained’ as a designer and where I’m teaching fashion since few years.
My first job as creative, was at Roberto Cavalli where I gained a significant part of my experience.
I’m currently living between Florence and Istanbul and this ‘contaminated’ moment of my existence made me conscious of how much work experiences, among different types of companies, and my role of teacher, helped me to get in contact with my evolution, revealing a more mature stylistic attitude, technical know-how and inner creative research and vision that I’ve tried to abstract, today, in my first collection.
