I have just successfully completed my MA in Fashion at Central Saint Martin’s London specialising in knitwear. My skills lie with sampling, working on the body and developing a sustainable practice and production processes. I focus on designing genderless clothing made using repurposed materials, for wearers to use as a tool for self-expression. My recent collection has a strong silhouette, combined with striking knit techniques and using data algorithms to create intricate jacquards. This collection explored combining knit with woven techniques and how the two materials could promote each other. An inspiration for my brand is vintage military uniforms and workwear, as clothing made for specific functions often have unusual design features.

THIS COLLECTION FOCUSES ON EXPLORING ALGORITHMS AND THE USE OF THESE IN CREATIVE DECISION-MAKING AND HOW TECHNOLOGY AND TRADITIONAL CRAFT CAN WORK TOGETHER. IT ALSO FOCUSES ON UNIFORM AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND HOW CLOTHES ARE USED BY PEOPLE TO PROTECT THEMSELVES FROM SOCIETAL NORMS. THE COLLECTION IS GENDERLESS AND I WANTED TO MAKE SURE THE GARMENTS WOULD BE APPEALING TO A VARIETY OF BODY SHAPES. I FEEL THAT GENDER AND THE WAY PEOPLE DRESS HAS BECOME MUCH MORE FLUID AND AS THIS IS THE WAY I DRESS I WANTED MY COLLECTION TO REFLECT THAT. IT USES UNDYED OR RECYCLED NATURAL YARNS AND END OF ROLL FABRICS. MAKING SURE I USE 100% NATURAL YARNS IS IMPORTANT TO ME, AS I WANT THE COLLECTION TO BE BIODEGRADABLE. WITH MOST COMPANIES NOW PROVIDING RECYCLED YARN IT FEELS IRRESPONSIBLE TO USE PURELY VIRGIN MATERIALS. AS ALL MY KNITWEAR IS FULLY FASHIONED THE COLLECTION WILL PRODUCE VERY LITTLE WASTE.
