Tran Thao Mien graduated Surface Textiles. she has worked in since 2011 both london and hanoi, from high fashion to fast fashion brands, but she also against fashion pollution.
she believe in educating customer and reduce need rather than producing more product.

applying her EXPERIENCES of living a zero-waste, INDIGENOUS life with trible in timore-leste and indonesia, she is now having a repair boutique, where worn clothes and fashion waste are fixed and upcycled to have a longer lifespan and CARRYING story to become an conversational starter piece.

her personal works with her SIGNATURE 'wasted yarn' fabric were shown in Pure Gold exhibition – an 10 years around the work upcycled project support by Institut fur Auslandsbeziehugen (ifa).

Leftover

Appearance is never as important and as cheap as nowadays. People are just moving toward a trend called sustainable and eco-friendly with their mass consumption habits. With the fast speed of producing, we might soon run out of raw materials.
Leftover started with the aim of reminding people not to throw too quick their old clothes, foods: their feelings and thoughts. All the pieces are upcycled from fashion waste showing that both organic and non-organic materials can be sustainable based on the way they are used and their lifespans.

Beside using waste as materials, Leftover featuring a new technique of an embroidered threads fabric (only loose threads are connected together through embroidery). This new fabric has multi-direction grainlines which fitted each part of the garment. Thus there is no fabric left during the making process.
