Michiyo Hayes Kuramochi

Michiyo Hayes Kuramochi is a Tokyo born London based fashion up-cycler using pre 80's vintage/post 90's second-hand world sourced garments and fabrics, also found deadstock/ discontinued roll-ends of English suiting wools and Japanese kimono materials, etc. Through her previous job as a 1960's ~1970's U.S vintage buyer in Tokyo, she grew her motivation for resurrecting the forgotten, abandoned, unneeded but fortunately survived materials into newly designed desirable pieces inspired by social matters, politics, subcultures and nature incorporated into her creative universe to realise these graphical one of a kind garments. Her signature designs are English suiting wools using the embroidery selvedges as a part of design, cartoon characters into imaginational stories of mainly understated political thoughts.
