MICHAEL MANZO

Michael J. Manzo (b.1984) Born in Bayonne, New Jersey. He attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn New York for four years where he studied fashion design. While matriculating he was selected to show with the organization Teens in Fashion and also interned at Heatherette and Isaac Mizrahi. In 2005, he was the winner of the CFDA Student Designer Competition’s “Best in School” award, for a collection that fused Art Deco with rural European work wear. He draws inspiration from being historically and culturally informed and is particularly afflated by his travels to Kenya and Tanzania, as well as his upbringing in a vibrant Art Deco style home. Though he is always abreast of current fashion and styling occurrences, his designs are not trend driven; however, are repurposed interpretations of archetypal clothes with innovative cutting and draping techniques. His designs are mostly women’s sportswear and luxury separates. He currently freelance designs and is in the evolution process of building his own label.
