SS16 “Alternative Folk” prints are made up of graphic florals while a combination of statement stripes and block colour appear on pleated skirts and flared-sleeved dresses. Sheer silk t-shirts and a V-neckline dress are worn delicately in contrast to the solid feel of the leather materials also present in the collection. Colours are bold and elementary with dashes of mandarin red, coal black and off-white. They are influenced by traditional Romanian folk costume, where red is commonly worn as a symbol of strength and power. Hand- embroidered linen with red and white geometric cross-stitch patterns (a Rroma Motif) can be seen diagonally wrapping around minimal slim silhouettes. An introduction of long and cropped leather jackets show lace-up detailing at the cuffs, reminiscent of Goth clothing from the 90's. Rock queens PJ Harvey and Joan Jett are referenced in the styling of the collection, advocating a rebellious and spirited attitude in the overall look.
