As an Iranian menswear designer who translates the most traditional methods for menswear tailoring, radical materials and garment construction methods with help of technology into a unique aesthetic design, I would like to introduce myself. I am Mehdi Mashayekhi.
In my work I express my ideas and abstract concepts, such as culture, time, humanity, social disorders, construction of materials and architecture. My design, beside its aesthetics, is a storytelling pose which tries to discuss problems, show a vision or a concern. In fact, I aim to be a narrative designer, narration with the medium of fashion. To achieve this goal, storytelling pose, craftsmanship and technology are my tools in my designs. I have always been passionate about modernizing classic menswear.
We are in the “future” of the past time, where everything is possible with technology and technology is the best way to modernize fashion. My intent is to blend the old fashioned (menswear tailoring) and modern (high-tech techniques) approaches into a distinct version of the present.
