My whole collection was inspired by a beautiful Italian book on early to mid 20th century circus and fun-fairs. My strong graphic prints come from two 1950's Circus advertising posters. I took elements from them translated each one with my own graphic edge, making my prints a pool of geometric shapes and bright colours. My perspex body pieces are introduced from the plastic carousel horses. This made my prints lift off the silhouette making my artworks appear 3D. My silhouettes came from the humorous imagery of clowns in there oversized tailored clothes. I wanted to move away from the traditional digital fabrics of silks and cottons. So, each garment is sublimation-ally printed which allowed me to use sports fabrics and plastic fabrics to tie in with the concept of my collection.
