While working on her new collection, Marianna Senchina tried to rethink and present her own vision of the classic image of Lolita. Designer imparted charm, vivacity and light-mindedness of her brand to Nabokov’s Lolita, thus creating a collection, which tells a story of a dramatic, yet amusing romance.
Double-natured character of heroine balances between tragedy and comedy, and the collection itself repeats its duality. The new Lolita wears tough floristic hand paityng leather jacket and combines dramatic ruffles with naive checkered pattern. She can put checked apron on a light white dress, or complete that dress with grim black stripes and massive jewellery. This Lolita is pulling off the combination of translucent fabric and thick cloth, and rocks the pair of mules, decorated with glitter and frill – the latter are created in collaboration with Victoria Demidasyuk. The collection also tells a pastoral story of a young peasant girl through checked pattern, frequent floral print and simple white dresses.
“Lolita” is closely linked with Marianna’s previous collections: it inherited such details as culottes, theatricality of decorations, stripes and massive baroque jewellery.
