Mariangela was born and raised in Sicily, a Mediterranean island rich of cosmopolitan and fashion history where Domenico Dolce (the half of Dolce & Gabbana) grew up.

She is currently a tailor with Giorgio Armani, where she helps dressing international clients and celebrities.

Mariangela’s passion for fashion began at an early age when she was unhappy with the clothes of her Barbie dolls. She started off by toying with fabrics of curtain’s samples from his father’s shop—a retail merchant—and exploring brands and styles when going shopping with her mother, a fashion enthusiast.
Her first approach to fabric cutting and cloth sewing began when a neighbor who had worked for a high-street boutique for about 30 years before retiring, taught her the tailoring basics.

However, it was not until her academic studies that Mariangela discovered and took inspiration from renowned maestros. Her fashion degree collection juxtaposes a 1972’s Vivienne Westwood rock tone to a Madelaine Vionnet’s romantic feel: biker clothes, zips, and leather all mix with soft drapes.
After learning fur sewing techniques from Ignazio Bissoli, a Sicilian fashion designer, Mariangela then moved to Empoli, Tuscany, at the heart of the textile-clothing district. Working on the side of an experienced team, her work for luxury brands showcased on runaways around the world.
Keen to gain international exposure, Mariangela next moved to the UK where she freelanced for local fashion startups and alteration studios. Partnering with Sivönna, a Manchester-based fashion brand specialising in minimal look wear, she debuted a new collection (Asimetrica) in a charity Fashion Show event that included celebs’ appearances, in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Mariangela currently lives in Milan where she works and takes inspiration from the fashion district trends.
If you don’t find her working on productive and challenging projects, Mariangela has probably gone to events, vintage outlets, high-street boutiques or museums.
