Lynette Yahya graduated from the University of Technology Sydney in Fashion and Textile design. Her collection gained both local and international recognition and was shortlisted for the WGSN + Artthreads Future Creator award in Melbourne and ID awards. Shortly after, she relocated to Italy having received an accessory design scholarship to train at Bottega Veneta’s atelier under their Artisans in a collaboration with IUAV.

Each collection offers a unique range of artfully created pieces for the modern woman. With a focus on innovation , textile and craftsmanship, each collection a combines intricate woven pieces balanced with luxury leather staples. All womenswear pieces are designed and ethically made in Australia, supporting local artisians and the slow fashion movement. Her designs are built on contrasts and deconstruction- morphed together in unison to create abstract yet elegant ideas.

DECONSTRUCT/RECONSTRUCT

This collection is concerned in the dynamism that characterises the way different genders appropriate elements of each other’s style. Designs have emerged at the site where this dynamism is most pronounced and aims to isolate and elaborate from them within a series of experiments. By reinterpreting, collaging and deconstructing garments that historically aided in enacting prescribed standards of masculine and feminine dress in the past, more specifically the Menswear suit and Victorian corset, new edgy silhouettes, and formations of laced textiles have emerged. Corset lacing structures are combined with stiching details and pinstripes uncovered within the suit. These experiments physically attempt to blur historic ideas on gender and take menswear details into womenswear.All pieces have been personally hand cut and woven.
