Lou Van Overbeke is a French Womenswear designer whose work focuses on embodying the idea of ‘raw beauty’. Inspired by nature and historical costume, she creates 'Organic Couture' that is modern, yet emphasizes on our world's ephemerality and imperfections. The unique colours and textures of her designs come from her experiments with natural dyes and textile work, meaning that each piece is different that the other: they all have a story. Her designs aim to give power and magic to the women that wear them, as if they came from a fairytale.

RÊVERIE

The collection Rêverie is meant to seen as a dream, a peek into a magical world full of colours, darkness and flora. Each look is a different character in Lou Van Overbeke’s imaginary world and represents a different time in her life, from the end of her childhood to her bloom as a woman. With structured shoulders, she gives each character the power to fight, but also adds some sensibilty with delicate fabrics, creating a striking contrast. All looks have been dyed using logwood chips, and through experimentation she has managed to produce a palette of different colours and nuances that can be seen in the 'Flower Train' from her last look. With embroidery and beading, she creates the sparkle of a mystical world, and uses draping to design organic cuts, as if the clothes had been made by nature itself. The collection is an ode to women, nature, and escapism.
