Linnie Mclarty's sculptural jewellery is informed by her background in Fine Art. Her design approach challenges the notion of wearability, creating objects which have a dynamic and resonance of their own both on and off the body. Her work engages with the visual language more often associated with objects which go beyond simply being decorative, and which have a physical presence in their own right. This is evidenced by her site-specific sculptures, often scaled up versions of her jewellery, which occupy space as artworks. A celebration of purity of form, dynamics of line, of the tensions between form and materials, Linnie's jewellery is sculpture for the body. She believes jewellery should make people feel great, whether as a talisman, a statement, a means of self-expression or armour, and if it doesn't then it's not doing its job properly!
Linnie's commitment to working ethically and sustainably ensures her jewellery looks and feels good from every angle.
