Ling zhi

This project started with fabric collages that I started to create when the pandemic happened. I wanted to create a fantasy world where a lot of exciting things might help me get out of the frustrations and depressions in real life.Projection is the key element in my creative process, as when the image is projected on top of the space and garment, it can suddenly transform the reality into my fantasy world.

My intention for this project is to create an up-cycled collection that re-applys prints and designs on the existing garments,it's like creating a collaged garment. Those existing garments are the representation of my reality life, and those prints and colors are the representation of my fantasy world. When I'm redesigning and decorating the existing garment, I'm also decorating my real life. It's like I'm trying to use my imagination to create a better environment for my mentality, a more positive environment.

After all, I'd like to use these works and imagery to inspire people, to resonate them with some love and beauty, and hopefully cheer them up.
