LENA SANTANA

Lena Santana is a London based womenswear designer who combines silk screened textiles with traditional draping techniques to create innovative pieces for the modern woman. Founded in 2007, Lena Santana garments and accessories are available in Budapest, Brazil and Japan, as well online.

As with every Lena Santana collection, the sourcing of materials has been carefully considered. The African Brocade fabric isSpring 2012 sees the launch of the new Lena Santana collection, 'Inspiration' and the development of a unique print range. Inspired by African textiles, the collection features silk screened African brocade fabrics in pastel shades. Each garment is hand draped to guarantee the ultimate fit. Fabric manipulation features heavily in this collection with techniques ranging from intricate pleating to hand-knitting. made from 100% Egyptian cotton and is woven in Germany. The fabric is then printed by hand using the traditional silk screen technique in London. Each garment is cut by hand and is manufactured entirely in the UK.
Lena Santana also offers another collection alongside 'Inspiration'. 'Flowering' is a collection of garments made entirely from recycled and vintage fabrics and lace. This collection is of a more bespoke nature with every garment an original in its own right.
Born in Salvador, Brazil Lena lived in Rio de Janeiro before moving to London to study fashion. This cosmopolitan history has enabled Lena to create her own distinctive style, clearly visible in each design. Her fascination with tailoring techniques and the structure of dress-making, began whilst working as a costume designer, a field which still inspires her today.
This novel perspective allows pure individuality in all elements of her work. Lena Santana garments encapsulate a contemporary twist on traditional couture techniques, intricate attention-to-detail, as well as an exclusivity and a respect for quality.
