The collection – Duas Formas SS16

The SS16 Collection, entitled Duas Formas, is primarily inspired from Barbara Hepworth’s string sculptures, such as “Stringed Figure (Curlew)”. In her work, the Modern artist explored the spatial tension created by the geometrically tied strings inside the sculpture, and further introduced symmetrical patterns of strings neatly tied inside an ovoid sculpture, making the end result feel cohesive and feminine in its instinctive creation. This has been translated into the collection through a way of construction, the choice of fabrics and silhouette, as well as in the detailing, which uses ribbons to help create and sustain the shape of the garment. The final result aims to express an understanding of how two materials can interact and through their silent tension create a well integrated yet flexible effect.
