Laura Yiannakou is a womenswear and print designer, based in London.

Being an ambitious and innovative thinker, she believes that vibrant personalities and appearances are the key to all of her creative design processes – always taking inspiration from peers and strangers alike. The subcultures she surrounds herself in is her main influence. Having grown up in London, she gains creative ideas from her life and what she surrounds herself in: music, clubs, galleries, backstreets, objects– anything and everything young and fun.

She loves to explore the relationship between print and silhouette… Always striving for new and creative ways to push this. Visual inspirations come first with Laura – always finding herself drawn to striking, contemporary, linear drawing and graphics – She’s got a great passion for fine art and aspires to the works of artists such as Robert Rauschenberg and Dieter Roth. In fact, the research process and drawing is her favourite part – working with different paper qualities, art media and textures rapidly and excitedly, which brings forward the quality and style of her prints to a new dimension. The final outcome always portrays this, demonstrating a strong sense of energy and vibrancy.

Since showcasing her final collection at GFW Earls Court in June 2009, She gained a 1st BA Hons in Fashion Design and is now freelancing as a design assistant. She has also interned with RTW labels Rodnik and Ann Sofie Back.

With press from the Daily Express, Warehouse, Fashion156, Stylebubble and Amelia’s Magazine (to name a few), she’s excited with what the future holds.
