Laura Anderson is a Sydney based designer who initially studied Textiles at Sydney’s elite College of Fine Arts and has recently graduated from RMIT's prestigious Bachelor of Fashion Design program with First Class Honours. Presenting her graduate collection at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week last year she won the innagural City of Melbourne Student Series Prize, which entails a sponsored internship at a fashion house in Milan (Costume National), as well as further studies at the Istituto Marangoni.

Driven by a desire to explore the process of creating, she draws on both her artistic and design disciplines to create items that explore femininity and elegance with a dark undercurrent of strong refined beauty. For her graduate collection, Minimal surface, the harmonious relationship that exists between print and pattern cutting was explored. A National Finalist in the Triumph Inspiration Awards 2010, the piece created for this competition sparked an exploration into textile creation and three- dimensional design. With techniques including heat sublimation transfer printing and laser cutting, strong graphic outcomes were achieved to create a modular collection exploring the idea of visual movement.
