Lafaani co-founders, Drishti and Rashmick met while pursuing a post-graduation degree in Environmental Studies and Resources Management. They’ve worked in remote water-stressed Indian villages and on sustainable agricultural and zero-waste projects, a green past that’s sewn into the hems and whispered into the pockets of the responsibly-made clothing they Create at Lafaani.
Following a master’s degree in sustainability, Drishti began a three-year long journey to experience and understand the elemental truth of fashion, its process, supply chains, the business behind it and of course, the environmental and social impact.

It was their synergistic personal styles, unabashed love and admiration for timeless designs, Indian textiles, and learnings from traditional Indian craft knowledge that led them to create ‘Lafaani’ incorporating the tenets of the slow clothing philosophy in the very design of The clothes.

And so Lafaani was born just post pandemic, a thoroughly-researched, 100% biodegradable, Indian heritage-loving, kantha -obsessed contemporary line of clothing for men and women. Originating from the belief of not being wasteful, Kantha's line embroidery technique fits perfectly with their aesthetic and philosophy.

While Lafaani is circular in its design approach, it is also inclusive in ideals, "choosing to work with silhouettes that not only compliment all body shapes and sizes but that can also often be considered genderless”. And by incorporating multifunctionality in some of their designs, they also hope to allow the wearer to be involved in the process of choice and interchangeability.
