A collection consisting of one-of-a-kind shirts composed entirely of handwoven and intricately tailored Kala Cotton. Each shirt is meticulously worked on by the finest Vankars belonging from the land of Bhujodi, Kutch(a small village in the western desert region of the country).
.
The name of the collection is a wordplay between the color Black, i.e ‘Kaala’ and skill, i.e ‘Kala’ in Urdu. It embodies the very bridge that bonds Kala Cotton and the absolute skill of a maestro.
Through Qala, our aim is to bridge the gap between age-old craftsmanship and modern wardrobes. In the making, the fabric has consciously been cut in a way that there is minimal wastage, while steps were furthermore taken to utilize the ‘patchwork’ technique. The compilation comprises pastel hues of blush and blues that provide the wearer with an airy sense of freedom and exuberance. In addition, each shirt is adorned with exquisitely detailed embroideries with every thread reciting a different tale.
