La La Lapels

Owner and designer, Angela Harder, came to create La La Lapels based on the idea that she wanted to find ways to wear items that she already owned and loved in new ways. One item that would become the biggest muse was the blazer. This is how the idea of artistic and interchangeable lapels was born. The beginning design stages started by seeking out private sewing lessons and then going back to school to complete the Apparel Technology program at The Fashion Institute, in Calgary, Canada. One of the courses that became a leading influence was the couture class because of the fine attention to detail and hand-work. Another influence that would go on to have major impact in her future creations was the time spent volunteering with a local business, Makefashion, that is at the forefront of combining the worlds of fashion and technology. A new love of laser-cutting textiles began. By mixing old-world sewing techniques with new-age technology, the first collection of La La Lapels was born and then released in the fall of 2019.
