“I follow the idea that there is beauty in simplicity... During the jewellery making process I input my personal ingredients of beauty, clean lines, humour and opinion into each peace and combine it with functionality and precision of craftsmanship. Obviously I try to look at each peace of jewellery unconventionally. For me it is not just a beautiful accessory made out of expensive materials, but a wearable piece of art which caries emotions and makes a statement. I like objects with a story and I am fascinated by the idea that each user will add many other stories to the one I input in each piece of my jewellery. This is what make each jewel absolutely unique.”
Even though most of Klara Sipkova's work is rather minimalistic and based on clear forms, she is no stranger to complex geometrical shapes. In her designs she often employs hi-tech production methods while other times she stays true to her background of precise handcraft. Stainless steel and titanium are her favourite materials however in several designs she does not refrain from material experimentation – she is the first jeweller who use the highly workable hi-tech Barrisol foil in jewellery application.
Klara Sipkova is a graduate of K.O.V. jewellery studio at the Academy of Arts Architecture and Design in Prague led by Eva Eisler. Nominated several times for the Czech Grand Design award, she is already well established among top young designers in her field often collaborating with leading Czech fashion designers. Last two years she was exhibiting on INHORGENTA MUNICH and her jewellery have very quickly found their customers not only in Prague but several European countries and the US. She is co-founder of the association of young Czech jewellers UNOSTO – established in 2011 as a platform for the promotion of Czech jewellery. In May 2015 she opened her own Showroom. – a collaborative project of seven Czech designers, a combined jeweller’s studio and shop located on Klimentska Street in the city centre of Prague.
