Kate Williams is an Australian raised, UK-based fashion designer and illustrator .

Traditionally trained in couture and ready-to-wear techniques, she obtained a BFA(Dist) in Fashion Design at the Queensland University of Technology in 2007 and the MA in Fashion Design from the London College of Fashion in 2010.

Her varied design experience and education has given her a unique aesthetic which saw her a finalist in the Australian Fashion Design Awards in 2006 with her swimwear collection and being offered a position in the Golden Key International Honour Society in 2007.

2010 saw the birth of Kate’s eponymous label, ‘Kate Williams’ which debuted at London Fashion Week in September.

She is also currently working as a freelance designer

Latest Collection

Alcyone

The collection has its roots in the ancient Greek myth of ‘Alcyone and Ceyx’ wherin a young couple is turned into a pair of seabirds after angering the gods. While the myth focuses on the ‘before’ and ‘after’ of the transition; this collection brings focus onto the actual transition between human, a symbol for ‘earth’, and the seabird, a symbol for both ‘air’ and ‘water’.

The three digital prints in the collection (5 including different colour ways) were designed to show the physical devlopment of the human body into that of a bird. Drawings of internal human structure are combined with the soaring lines of wings and graduated colour.

This collection is one of movement and visual detail; simulataneously highly contemporary and
timeless - a story spanning the millenia.
