Inspired by the majestic mountain world of Jämtland and its varied textures and multifaceted beauty, I have created a collection that encapsulates the essence of "sabi". This Japanese term describes the beauty of things that age and evolve over time, something I see in the ever-changing landscapes of the Jämtland mountains.
My collection represents a journey through the shifting landscapes of the mountains and reminds us of our place in the natural order. In a time of constant change and uncertainty, my creations offer a combination of protection and playfulness that explores the boundaries of design and materials. These are clothes that are both bold and expressive, carrying the history and beauty of the Jämtland mountains.
I have knitted macramé and tied yarn using various techniques to capture the textures found in the mountain range; the winding paths meeting the clouds, the snow-covered peaks, and the mountains reaching towards the sky with rocky sides that tell stories of the passage of time and strength. I have melted glue to connect and create a smooth surface reminiscent of the ice dancing down the landscape, uniting two elements.
The choice of materials and techniques I have chosen emphasizes naturalness and sustainability. I use wool and cotton to create garments that are not only comfortable to wear but also have a long lifespan. My work is a tribute to craftsmanship, emphasizing the importance of creating with one's own hands, fostering a strong connection to tranquility and nature, and not rushing the process with shortcuts.
