Karen Topacio is a self titled fashion label with a Filipino-Australian designer at the helm. Karen Topacio pursued her interest in fashion and studied at Esmod Paris in 2011. She recently graduated from MA in Fashion Design at IFA Paris. Her graduating show in January 2015 defined her signature style - innovative, crisp yet fun and playful. The brand focuses on the relationship of fashion with other forms of artistic expression such as art and technology, in the creation of wearable clothing, rich with imagination and each with their own individual stories, to inject women a sense of originality.

DRAPE SS16

For her sophomore collection Karen Topacio used DRAPEapp to construct garments using her own body movements. DRAPEapp has been developed by

Karen Topacio and creative developer Cyril Diagne, whose work has featured in the Barbican’s ‘Digital Revolution’ exhibition, alongside Will.i.am. DRAPE is an innovative
research tool allowing fashion designers to explore new ways of draping, and allow amore fluid and freeform approach to constructing garments. Motion tracking software
registers body movements using Microsoft Kinect technology, meaning the designer can use their own body, or that of a model, to rapidly trial virtual shapes and volumes.

DRAPE opens a whole new realm of discovery, research, testing and artistry for the designer. Karen designed the SS16 using her arms and legs, later developing the
digital silhouettes to suit her personal universe - organic, playful and graphic.
