The collection is titled ‘I have no mouth and I must scream’ being a reference to Harlan Ellison’s science fiction story published in 1967, where a computer becomes aware of itself and decides to end the human race, as a way of thinking about our relationship with machines and technology, as well as the person-cyborg concept introduced by Donna Haraway.
This collection pretends to take a bold and futuristic approach into design, combining elements of deformation of human body, atypical materials, and color combinations to create a striking and thought-provoking aesthetic. The color palette of the collection is predominantly dark and metallic, with shades of silver, gunmetal, and green. These colors effectively convey the cold and sterile atmosphere of a dystopian world, while also emphasizing the fusion of human and machine.
The silhouettes in this collection are sharp, angular, and edgy, reflecting the mechanical nature of cyborgs. Structured shoulders, exaggerated sleeves, and hips, and geometric proportions are prominent design elements, adding a sense of strength and power to the garments. The juxtaposition of sleek lines and hard edges with softer and more fluid draping creates a captivating visual contrast. The collection also embraces the dark and macabre elements from the book 'I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream'. Intricate work on leather featuring circuitry patterns and fragmented proportions adds a haunting touch to select pieces. These details serve as a reminder of the underlying themes of the book and evoke a sense of unease and vulnerability.
