In an unexpected yet exciting twist, the delicate feminine designs that have become synonymous with the brand since their launch, will this season be accompanied by an edge of streetwear referenced through comic prints. Central to the story of this collection will be the nods to traditional Japanese culture and the preservation of treasured craftsmanship that founder and head designer Jun Nakamura continues to modernise for today’s fast-paced world.
As pioneers of the traditional artisan custom of Shibori and masters of structure, the long-established Japanese practice of Shibori will meet rigid materials to create truly exceptional silhouettes. Adorning these unique constructions will be two brand new prints that when contrasted allude to Japanese culture, past and present, through the visual narrative and art forms of Shibori, floral motifs and Japanese comics. In addition, a unique handmade tie-dye technique applied with wooden boards lends itself to an exclusive stripe design whereby no two fabrics can possess the same face.
