Mr Johnny Lau, upon obtaining his Master Degree from the ROYAL COLLEGE OF ART LONDON and his BA Honors at CENTRAL SAINT MARTINS OF ART LONDON in the early 2000s, apart from having worked as a designer for ALBERTA FERRETTI, where his creations graced the catwalks in Milan and worn by Hollywood actresses such as Scarlett Johansson, also worked for internationally renounced fashion brands such as MAXSTUDIO and French heritage brand LACOSTE where he was appointed the Asia Pacific Head of Design, stationing in Paris and Tokyo overseeing design and development for the 2-billion-Euro Asia Pacific market. After more than 10 years of experience at high level positions in prestigious brands he returns to Hong Kong in 2013 and set up his own private label JOHLAUN, a premium private label which, with a combination of the best fabrics from Europe and Japan and of the highest workmanship possible, captures the elegance and edginess of the ultra-cool and super chic modern woman.

JOHLAUN’s current stock lists include independent boutiques in North of France, premium retailers in China’s 1st tier cities such as Beijing, Nanjing, Hangzhou, etc

JOHLAUN's autumn winter 2016 collection “The Seven Sleepers” is loosely based on story which during the persecutions by the Roman emperor Decius, around 250 AD, seven young men were accused of following Christianity. They retire to a mountain cave to pray, where they fell asleep for a hundred years. A dog who accompanied the youths into the cave also fell asleep, but looking like keeping watch at the entrance. The story gives inspirations to the autumn winter “Infinity Print”, with patterns developed from infinite repetition of geometric shapes with overlapping line drawings of figures of sleeping dogs.
The concept of “infinity” also features in the constructions and tailoring of the garments, such as extended folds that twirl around the bodies or the necklines. Geometric weaved patterns with fluffy fur surfaces as well as short fringe trims decorating necklines and jacket front flaps adds a mysterious ethnic flavour to a very spiritual conception of a collection.
