JNOUN is a creative studio initiated by two sisters, Meriem and Zahra Bennani. JNOUN evolves between Rabat, Paris and New York. Meriem is fascinated by humour, dream piloting techniques and the absurd. She likes long haired dachshunds, the blue of resort swimming pools and Bollywood movies. Meriem is 27 and lives in New York. She earned an MFA at l’Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and a BFA at Cooper Union in New York. She has recently screened her videos at MoMA PS1 and the Jewish Museum in New York , Palais de Tokyo in Paris and had her first solo show at SIGNAL Gallery in Brooklyn. Zahra is fascinated by the irrational, instincts and contrasts. She likes thrifting, reappropriating pieces and imagining the multiple lives they have had. Zahra is 30 and lives in Rabat. She graduated from CELSA Paris in marketing and media management. After four years at Groupe Marie Claire in Paris as chief marketing officer then fashion senior account manager at Cosmopolitan magazine, she recently moved to Rabat to launch JNOUN. JNOUN comes from the sisters’ desire to create together, combine their passions and share them.
