Jemima Olivia retrained as a milliner in 2011 after deciding not to continue with a career in contemporary dance. Attracted by the opportunity to learn a traditional craft Jemima enrolled on the Millinery HNC at Leeds College of Art and Design, studying part time while working as a waitress and Zumba instructor. Inspired by her knowledgeable and supportive tutors Jemima experimented with unusual materials and processes, developing a contemporary and very structural aesthetic. After completing her course and achieving distinction, Jemima went on to intern for six months at Noel Stewart Millinery, an opportunity which provided an invaluable insight into running a studio and collection production.
Now working with the Princes Trust, Jemima is focused on building her own millinery label and business. She designs and manufactures the hats from her Nottingham studio, finding inspiration in the culturally vibrant city and surrounding countryside.
Jemima's hats offer a unique and contemporary style suitable for special occasions such as weddings and race days, available for both hire and to buy as well as a customisation service.
