Tik Tok always reminds me of the opening scenes from the movie ‘Step Up’. Little snippets of talented people showing off their skills. In itself Tik Tok is a culture with each viewer being part of their own subculture. I find mine is a mixture of dance and fashion. Looking at the VIP’s and influencers that grace my feed each morning. Constantly making content hourly just for a one minute video that may or may not come up on your ‘FYP’. From that, I thought of the slogan “In the time it took to read this… you could have followed me on Tik Tok”. I feel that in today’s society this has value and wanted to add it to my design. Comfort, stylish and stand out where also factors I based my research and development around. I used Tik Tok for my trend forecasting and found elements of tie dye, oversized, bright clothing which all featured stretch. Again linking to the dance side where flexibility is key. I chose to design tie dye joggers and a crop top which colours where pink and blue from the Tik Tok logo. As worn by many influencers they allow you to feel comfort as well and fashion forward while creating content for their viewers. As an outerwear piece I created an oversized orange puffer with my slogan written across the back, which I feel gives the influencer a stand out look which would be noticeable for any viewer swiping up on their ‘for you page’. I decided upon simplistic designs as I felt this look could be reinterpret by the influencer’s followers as they do with their Tik Tok’s however, the colour scheme, slogan and tie dye effect would always feel unique and therefore would always represent Tik Tok.
