JAN KNIBBS

Jan Knibbs, born in Herefordshire, has spent her life specialising in embroidery and has a background including theatrical costume and bridal wear. In 2001 she won the Embroidery category in the British Bridal Awards.
In 2009 she completed her MA at Bath Spa University where she developed her signature style of rich hand-worked embroidery, incorporating off-cuts, remnants, antique lace and other vintage finds winning the Swarovski Prize and 2nd place in the prestigious international Hand and Lock Prize for Embroidery.
Since competing her MA, Jan has developed a range of embroidered statement jewellery and offers a bespoke service for special occasions. She has also collaborated with other designers including Fee Doran aka Mrs Jones and has just completed a collection for Reem Alasadi for Tokyo Fashion Week to be sold in the Reem pop-up shop at Laforet in Tokyo.
Jan's designs have a theatrical feel and are perfect for dressing up, on and off stage being a vibrant mix of art,craft and high fashion. Her new label 'something old...something new" will allow clients to buy into new luxury with a clear conscience and enjoy a unique range of ethical embroidered garments, accessories and jewellery reflecting on the past whilst looking to the future.
