James Steward is an independent fashion designer trained by an Italian Couturier and now based in Leeds, UK.
Each piece is inspired by his couture training, fashion history and a passion for creative pattern cutting.
Passionate about process and craft, James makes clothes that celebrate the body as well as the body in motion. The process begins with intuition and instinct. It's a fluid progression with no set beginning, middle or end, allowing for the spontaneity that leads to the innovation and evolution of his designs.
Twice winner of ‘Yorkshire Brides Couture Designer of the Year’, and Leeds Independent designer of the Year, James has been described as ‘setting a breathless fashion pace, reaching devastating new heights in both couture wedding gown design and ready to wear’.
