Sang-A Kim is currently a London based designer, who was born in Korea but raised in London from the age of 4. A fresh graduate with a BA in Womenswear from London College of Fashion. In her graduate collection, she has explored the concept of detachable garments, where various pieces could be changed around to make a new look. Her latest collection is inspired by Paper Dolls, Military details and fossil fabrication. Through experimentation and sampling she was able to produce military details like pockets, bags etc. and by draping she could work out silhouettes for the looks and fabrication for the fossil aspect. Through research she was able to produce a juxtaposition of masculine and feminine silhouettes.

Latest Collection

Detachable

The collection ‘detachable’ is inspired by paper dolls and military details and fossil fabrications. The 'detachable' symbolises the stereotypes that we have with society today. We are constantly in war with each other, with a gender, race or a religion. People are separated from one another just by a label. Detachable could mean to separate or disconnect, through researching the paper dolls theme, the garments are designed so that some parts of the garments can be attached and put on and off the garment and so it could be made into a new look.
