ITS ALL MAKE BELIEVE

I want it out, not in me.

I was grieving. I was anxious and as usual I was repressing my sadness and anger. Nobody likes a
whiner.

It was time to let the anxiety emerge, to be all of me, to devote myself to my ”suffering”, to live the
artist cliché. To become whole.

I believe in being passionate and committed to both your light and your dark side, this is a slice of
my dark side.

This work emerged as my life was very dark and sad. I didn’t want to keep these feelings inside me
so I brought them to the surface and placed them outside of myself, into a collection.

Most fabrics used in this collection started white and has been tainted along the way.
I’ve processed the fabrics trying to reflect vulnerability, anger and grief, both by choosing materials
that are flowing and “nervous” to make them move with the body movement; and by wrinkling,
wearing and tearing and painting them. The silhouettes are mostly draped and based on my
collages made in the beginning of the process, created to enhance the paintings and extend the
emotion.

My collection is a captured moment of my life, like a photograph, and when I look at it I see what I
felt three months ago.

It is out, not in me.
