Isabelle Mylène Schindler recently graduated with Bachelor’s degree from the Institute of Fashion Design at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Northwestern Switzerland. Previously, trained as a dressmaker, she worked in various ateliers in Switzerland. Her clothing line is a mix of couture and function-wear. She creates unisex fashion for both men and women. Already during her studies, she engaged herself in diversity of cultures, handicrafts as well as sustainable trade of materials which remains a significant focus in her creation.

in one's mind's eye

My collection is based on my vision of what transcultural clothing could look like. Through our current opportunities of networking, cultures are fusing onto and into each other more rapidly and constantly in different ways. My collection is an attempt to let a homogeneous aesthetics arise that presents multiple influences in balance. What inspires me is to attire the simple form of the body with a rectangular piece of cloth, and then combine this approach with classical Western everyday clothing.
An important essential component of my creation is the investigation of fabric patterns and their meanings, which often reflect cultural identities.
With these elements, I try to make our everyday clothing more festive, with the aim that the wearer is not only dressed comfortably, but also appreciates the value of each day and thereby celebrating the gift of being alive.
