Ingrid Hayes

Known for her bold, yet thoroughly feminine aesthetic, designer Ingrid Hayes, brings fashion for women forward with a focus on cut, fit and an uncompromising attention to detail.  

Hayes is the woman she designs for - confident and strong with a desire to express part of herself through her own sense of style.  Her relaxed, sexy pieces are meant to empower - slip on one of Hayes' form-fitting, yet drapey dresses and you exude self-assuredness.
The designer herself is an eclectic mix of irreverent rocker chick and refined high fashion priestess, effortlessly blending the best of both styles to express a thoroughly individual and original woman.

This Arkansas natives' approach to design is artistic, rather than trend driven, as she is inspired by art itself, culture, nature and people.  Hayes has eschewed the conventional fashion industry production imperatives since graduating from Parsons, a pioneer in art and design education for over a century and one of the most selective art and design schools in the United States.

Prior to Parsons, Hayes received a business degree from the University of Arkansas.  Directly upon completing her formal education, she started designing while taking up residence in New York.  Quickly, she established herself as a rising independent designer - first creating clothes for friends and fashion-industry insiders out of her Lower Eastside studio, then wholesaling to downtown boutiques who were drawn to her easy, handcrafted pieces that expressed "cool" with a couture sensibility.

Hayes continued to design when she emigrated to Melbourne in 2002.  Now, under her own label, INGRID HAYES, she releases "Italian Noir", a collection of must-have, glamorous black dresses, cut from the finest Italian Jersey.  Her clothes are feminine with a striking "edge," timeless and classic but always thoroughly modern, powerful and sexy.  Hayes achieves this with an ardent attention fit, combined with her strong knack for subtle unexpectedness - a Hayes hallmark - like using sheer mesh as a lining or for detailing plaits and flounces.  Her uncomplicated designs have fluidity, softness and strength which accentuate the female anatomy in a simultaneously discreet and seductive manner.
