I N I M A

I N I M A is a NY based women's wear label founded in 2008 by Annie Kurz.

I N I M A translates from Romanian to “a bodily organ that is essential to life” or simply heart, from Latin “anima – spirit, life, soul”.

With a philosophy very much her own, the designer likes to step away from perfection and the idea of ideal beauty and is rather seeking a balance within the contrasting forces of design. Annie Kurz deals with conflicts of human reality and fantasy, desire and fear, contrasts of beauty and “anti-beauty”.
The collections experiment with material and silhouette, construction, texture and detailing playing with elements like: fragility and strength, tradition and modernity and fluidity and severity. An openly emotional viewpoint is realized with a influence of the arts.

The I N I M A spirit combines purism and modernism with sartorial elegance, seeking innovations in textile architecture.
