I pay particular attention to detail not only in my design work but in all projects undertaken. I constantly re-evaluate what I have produced to ensure that it is completed to the highest possible standard and to the best of my ability. Consequently I often discover new and exciting ways to push my creations forwards so that their unique quality is evident throughout. Sometimes this lies in the pattern cutting process itself where working on the stand invites me to develop my pieces more organically than could be achieved on paper. More recently it is my choice of fabrics that has proved integral to my work; allowing me to experiment with materials in an unconventional way to great effect. Fabric research is something that I take great pleasure in and I hope that my knowledge and exploration of this will continue to grow and expand along with my design, technical and practical capabilities.

Juxtapositional Drape

The Collection was originally inspired by Japanese Origami: how a material can be manipulated in its two dimensional form to create a three dimensional object. The Collection is made up of statement catwalk pieces. The juxtaposition of woven fabrics with stretch fabrics and the intrinsic properties of these opposing materials became integral to the design and success of the garments. Fabric manipulation extended beyond simple folding, pleating and layering. Much of the silk was transformed through Interfusing before the patterns were even cut altering the nature of the fabric to suit the needs of each garment.
