Helicopter

Helicopter is an Icelandic fashion company specializing in comfortable,high street clothing where no distinction is made between everyday wear and every evening wear. The emphasis is put on flattering cuts, easy-to-wear fabrics and celebrating individuality. The clothes are all limited editions, most fabrics are from Italy and almost all garments are sewn in Latvia. Knits are manufactured in Lithuania. The label cele- brates transparency in manufacturing and puts an emphasis on working with up and coming manufacturing companies that are able to work in small quantities, non-labour is vital.
The collection’s designer, Helga Lilja, hails from Reykjavík, Iceland where she studied fashion in the Icelandic Academy of the Arts. After graduation she began work as an assistant designer for the street wear company, Nikita. Upon honing her skills there for three years, she launched Helicopter in December 2010.
The company's flagship store , KIOSK, is located on Laugavegur Street in Reykjavik’s main shopping district, alongside seven other designers who share the space. Kiosk has been voted the best store to stock up on local design by the alternative maga- zine,The Reykjavik Grapevine, for five years running.
