For Autumn/Winter 2012, hansel and hello hansel tap into the endearing spirit of the lovable Atlantic Puffin. These black-and-white seabirds are famous of their large colourful beaks during the mating season, earning themselves the nickname of “clowns of the sea”.
Slinky hello hansel Rayon/Spandex jersey dresses are covered with Puffin motifs in various poses, each one encircled by a floral-like puff. Sophisticated hansel dresses in Wool/Polyester suiting are adorned with detachable Puffin brooches – each one individually sewn by hand with an intricate assortment of glittery beads, rhinestones and sequins.
The Puffin motif also appears in the hello hansel Cotton/Spandex knitwear range – from a small, single black Puffin silhouette printed on a colour-blocked knit dress to a pair of loving birds nestled on an Instarisa-knit top, to an oversized Puffin covering one half of a fitted Intarsia-knit dress to a mirror-imaged pair of Puffins, wings stretched in mid-flight, on batwing Intarsia-knit cardigans.
Reminiscent of the Puffin’s cold coastal homes, the cool hues of Mint, Ultramarine, Teal and Grey colour this season’s hansel and hello hansel collections alongside the perennial palette of Black, Cream and Navy, accented with the occasional pops of Yellow.
Inspired by the Puffin’s fluttery charm, the collections feature a range of flirty peplums, pretty puffy sleeves, swingy gathered skirts and broad, two-way waist ties (resembling mini wings) that appear on jackets, dresses, skirts and pants.
The season’s looks are completed with pieces from the By Invite Only for hansel capsule jewellery range. This is the first collaboration between hansel and well-loved Singaporean jewellery designer, Trixie Khong, from the By Invite Only jewellery label. The nine-piece handmade jewellery range exudes ladylike charm with antiquated gold metal chains, elegant Swarovski pearls and vintage Puffin and fish-shaped charms. The range is topped off with bold bib necklaces assembled by hand with a contrasting mix of metal elements, vintage charms and soft, delicate coloured feathers.
