Halla Farhat is a Lebanese designer who grew up in Montreal Canada, she graduated fashion design with a B.A from Wesminster. She has previously studied photography in Canada, which is when she realized she wanted to pursue studies in fashion. Urban subcultures and cultural diversity has been a main source of inspiration, which she uses and transforms into her own exciting and eccentric way.

Adult fairytales S/S 14

Adult Fairytales is a collection created by Halla Farhat for her thesis project.She derived inspiration from Indian culture, graffiti, and youth rebellion. She uses strange combinations of fabrics to represent the contrast of all these worlds, such as silk lame fused with jersey, or PVC and neoprene. Her fabrics are manipulated by using old embroidery techniques, or are hand painted, making sure every piece is unique. She also adds elements of her teenage years for nostalgia, such as tagging the inside lining of garments, or decorating them with her favorite candies.
