Haixi REN

Haixi Ren is a fashion designer who focuses on sustainability and innovation. She is dedicated to improving the textile waste problem within the fashion industry. During her freelancing/internships at Thom Browne, Vera Wang, and Proenza Schouler she gained unique industry experiences and began to reflect on how to build a sustainable fashion world and work towards accomplishing zero waste designs. In April 2020 Haixi Ren was selected as one of ten finalists for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute College Fashion Design competition for her organically draped zero-waste garment.
Haixi Ren’s ultimate goal is to create personalized couture for her clients as opposed to wasteful mass produced clothing. Haixi developed techniques which allowed her to create garments using recycled swatches instead of yardage of fabrics. She believes the industry should spend more time on creating instead of producing.
