As a student, the diploma project was a last chance to explore my potential before graduation. Working in Bodhi was like a long 5 month module where I never ceased to learn in every step fist hand. I remember being extremely excited to begin the work. Once I started off, I also understood the challenges one faces and how to tackle each
hurdle with tact and intelligence in each and every stage.
Over the years that I have spent learning and evolving as a designer, I have constantly questioned myself when I sketch garments; will this attire look good on the wearer or will the wearer look good in this attire? I have learnt to always go with the later. I feel that the garment should take a backstage once worn and make the person look more
appealing so much so that one feels compelled to compliment the individual rather than the outfit. I strongly feel that Bodhi epitomize this thought and design was found in the little details done immaculately, and comprehensive consideration was given to the little things which resulted in beautiful garments.
Bodhi gave me an opportunity to explore fine natural fabrics and various surface techniques keeping their brand identity intact. Over the course of the project I developed a lot of understanding and moulded a view of the brand Bodhi.
THE ENLIGHTENED WOMEN
the enlightened women is confident , not intimidatingly but emulates quite confidence that draws people towards her. She is content and secured because her search is over. She is joyous and dances with glee and lives in the now. For her every moment is an opportunity for a celebration !
Her cloths also reflect these attributes. Minimal materials and asymmetry is observed. freedom of movement is key and loose fits are integral considering the nature of the women....purity of lines inspired by asian heritage, the colours and textures are similar to some sort of a natural occurrence.
She is simple, modest and refined wit her choices as her vision isn't blurred with the complications of the world. You can already imagine she lives in a house where the interiors have modern and traditional blend in perfect harmony...
