FrillyByLily was born in 2006 when Lily developed a passion for collecting and reworking vintage and costume jewellery into modern wearable items.
The first creations to be sold were on a stall at Portobello road market in London.
It wasn’t long before Urban Outfitters placed a large order and Lily started to receive interest from other reputable stockists and press.
As demand grew it became difficult for Lily to fulfil orders. Waking up at 6am every weekend even in the snow to search for the most unusual trinkets soon took its toll. It became apparent that there is demand for something in the ‘frilly’ style that can reach a wider audience.
To this day experimenting with different traditional jewellery making techniques takes centre sage, as we prefer the quality and aesthetic that hand finished perfectionism brings.
In London, finding inspiration is never hard, with galleries and museums in abundance, but inspiration can come in many forms, from something seemingly insignificant like glistening reflections of light in water to something more magnificent like the view from the top at One New Change, but what excites Lily most is colour. Particularly colours that are naturally rich, like red cabbage, autumn leaves, fire opals and deep sapphires.
Lily is driven to create clever ways to showcase colour in her jewellery designs. She enjoys sculpting metals to create different textures, finishes and shapes.
Over time Lily has developed a passion for precious and semi precious stones and the way that metals and finishes compliment and contrast with the stones and each other.
Our portfolio of stockists include Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters as well as a whole host of carefully selected independent boutiques. Press features include The Independent, Grazia and Cosmopolitan amongst other publications.
Our main priority is designing and producing quality jewellery that will stand the test of time. FrillyByLily jewellery is not ‘throw away’. Sustainability is at the forefront of our minds. Metals are 50% recycled on average and ethically sourced stones are used upon customer request.
As everything is made in London by Lily and experienced specialists, we are supporting our home economy and our carbon footprint is minimal.
We always encourage customers to order ‘off menu’ and we take pride in providing customer service that is approachable, friendly, breezy and reliable.
