'WRAPPED' CELEBRATES THE POETRY AND CHAOS OF WORKING WITH THE ACCIDENTAL. THE MINIMAL APPROACH TO MATERIALS AND SHAPES CREATED THE PROFILE OF A WOMAN WHOSE SATISFACTION IS VERY CLOSE TO HER SKIN.
With this collection, Frederieke Broekgaarden, wanted the feeling of a dream state and the subconscious to be the leading factor in her design process. An intuitive way of working was very important to her. This led to researching wrapped objects.
Wrapped up, things become a new, spooky object of beauty in itself. The change of identity is very intriguing. Like in a dream where things get fragmented and put into a new context. When wrapped, it also gets a vulnerable, sensual and temporary character. Transparency and colour blocking helped to translate this feeling into designs.
These factors ended up shaping the collection in many ways. The collection became an exploration of transparency in relation to the body and colour. Classical tailoring was used as a contrast to the airy fabrics and tulle flying around. The use of colour and craftsmanship distinguishes Frederieke Broekgaarden. ‘Wrapped’ became a painting of fabric.
