Francesca Scott is originally from Newcastle upon Tyne but is now based in London. She has recently completed her degree in fashion at Ravensbourne where she specialised in womenswear.
For Francesca's graduate collection she was inspired by Barbara Hepworth’s sculptures, interested in the way she used shape and form. Her work has a natural feminine quality to it which Francesca has applied to her own work. Francesca has used organic shapes as well as using different textured fabrics with distortion and odd proportions fused together to reflect her concept.
Francesca is interested in creative pattern cutting and the use of vibrant colours and also creating odd proportions in her work to ceate a unique design aesthetic.

Latest Collection

Imaginary Reality

The product range for this collection is autumn/winter as the fabric choice reflects this season better. Throughout research in Francesca's sketchbook she has used collage to help her design and develop links between themes. She has also been doing stand work to aid her designs.
The pleating represents Hepworth’s use of wires in her work and has also been inspired by Man Rays distorted photos of the female nude. Francesca has experimented with the movement of fabric around the body to create different shapes. The use of high shoulders and odd proportions in her work reflect the theme of teenage angst and awkwardness experienced at this age.
Looking at the theme of surrealism and inspired by the surrealist manifesto this has given a dreamlike quality to the overall collection.
