Fool Dost returns to age-old textile handcraft as fundamental to the creation of what we wear. As it once was, but now as a peaceful protest against socio-enviro disconnect. The artisanal processes we engage with result in the creation of inherently soulful and sustainable outfitting.
Founder, Laura Halliwell, relocated to India and conceptualised the brand during five years of handmade textile research and learning from organisations making positive socio-economic change in the region’s garment manufacturing industry. Fool Dost currently partners with established organisations to connect with craft-specific artisan clusters in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan’s Kutch region and Madhya Pradesh. Through collaborative design integration and organisation of informal artisanal practices, Fool Dost’s textile partners ensure sustainable economic growth and indigenous craft preservation for these communities.
