Camille-Marie Gourdet is an New York based fashion designer with experience through the most vital sectors of the industry. Her journey to discovering my love for fashion design has not been an easy road. Each twist and turn has taught her a valuable lesson. From interning at some of the most prestigious fashion companies in New York to attending fashion shows at Bryant Park, fashion is a substance that just pulsates through her veins. She completed her undergraduate degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and spent her senior year in Milan, Italy studying at Politecnico di Milano. Her interests include not only fashion design but also textile technology and sustainability practices. She has a background in fashion styling and photography which helped her develop a careful eye for detail and spotting trends. She is now based in New York City where she is exploring freelance work opportunities while building her portfolio.

Fluid Reality

As we were once one we divided ourselves independently into two and as centuries have passed we have been placed in a biological centrifuge where even our planet has divided apart from one body of land due to necessity. Gender identity has evolved and along with it we are emerging into a vast new world of people who look to clothing as their first line of defense against the judgement of others. As our souls move fluidly through time and space we find shelter in the people we allow to enter our circles and the clothes that we choose to shield our body against the harshness of the elements. But what if clothing was not just a means of shielding our skin from abrasion but also to shield our soul from the unprotected gaze of society. This is the reality we inhabit and these are our constants. We are not glitch on the motherboard of humankind. This is our life fluidly, in real time. Evolution began as a form of survival. As far back as history goes we can see that as a need arises and when placed under enough pressure matter splits and forms duplicates of itself. This collection was created to provide garments that will camouflage you on your journey through our fluid reality and I hope you find the answers that you seek as I embark on the search to find my own.
