Graduating from National Institute of Fashion Technology in the year 2005, Moutushi Sarkar spent over 6 years working in the field of fashion through both export and domestic retail to get a good grasp of the business, and gain experience in various aspects of apparel design, technical design, sourcing and manufacturing.

Example was launched in 2012 after careful researching of local Indian crafts and textiles, culminating in a brand with the perfect balance of Indian tradition and modern western aesthetics. The aim is to explore and progress with each succeeding collection to find new and better ways of marrying culture and modernity. Incorporating ethical sourcing and using only natural fabrics is a way of staying conscious of our environment at the same time. Up-cycling and recycling are other essential aspects of the brand that are incorporated to ensure minimal waste creation.

The brand has its presence in several top Indian boutiques, and also in upcoming boutiques in Australia, UK and USA. Having received coverage from renowned magazines such as Elle, Vogue, Platform and various blogs and publications, Example is establishing its position as a bridge between heritage craft and modern fashion.
